British Basketball League Regular Season
A staple in North-East England’s rich sporting history since 1976, the Newcastle Eagles are the BBL’s second-oldest club and one of its most successful. The club, formally known as the Sunderland Saints, boasts six league titles, six BBL Championship final victories, six BBL Cup titles and seven BBL Trophy titles.
Having spent eight years in their former digs, Sport Central, the club now calls their purpose-built Eagles Community Arena home after moving there in 2019. The Eagles failed to qualify for the playoffs at the end of the 2021-22 season for the first time in 21 years after finishing ninth.
The London Lions lead the regular season series 2-0. In their first encounter, Sam Dekker led the way with 15 points, seven rebounds, three assists, one steal and one block whilst shooting 77.8% from the floor. Sophomore guard Bradley Kaboza had a perfect night of shooting, going four of four from the field en route to a 12-point and 5-rebound performance.
