London Lions Snap 3-Game Losing Streak with Vital 70-84 AwayWin vs Trento.
23 Points from Sam Dekker Helps the Lions Become First British Team to Record 5 Victories in EuroCup History
Jordan Taylor’s near triple-double and the Lions’ rejuvenated second-half defensive effort helped Britain’s capital city representatives claim a critical 70-84 road win.
The University of Wisconsin–Madison product commandeered the offence for coach Ryan Schmidt's injury-hit squadron to the tune of 8 assists, which Taylor complimented with 11 points and eight rebounds. Taylor did most of his scoring damage at the free-throw line knocking down six of his nine attempts and hit a huge momentum-stealing triple at the end of the second quarter.
During his 37 minutes on the hardwood, talisman Sam Dekker recorded a stellar 23-point, 10-rebound double-double. Dekker helped keep the Lions in the game during the first half, connecting on 5 of his eight shot attempts.
Double-Double magnet Kostas Koufos grabbed a team-leading four offensive rebounds to aid London’s second-chance efforts. The Greek national player finished the game with ten rebounds, 14 points, three steals, two assists and one block.
London's poor 3-point shooting reputation was turned on its head by the likes of birthday boy Tomislav “Zuba” Zubcic and Aaron Best, who both connected on three long-range shots and Sam Dekker, who hit two of his own. Best complemented this effort by sinking all three of hit free throw shots from the line en route to a 12-point performance.
Trusted sniper “Zuba” used his overall scoring effort to record 12 points whilst grabbing five rebounds, dishing out two assists, and claiming one steal.
Luke Nelson helped conduct the Lions rejuvenated defensive effort. The shooting guard finished the match with a game-leading four steals, with six assists and 6 points. His fellow GB teammate, Josh Sharma, used his eleven minutes on the court productively, recording 6 points and two blocks.
