The London Lions go six-for-six in Europe as they round off their group in convincing fashion.
Abby Meyers and Megan Gustafson were present for their EuroCup Women debuts, with the latter leading the game in both scoring and rebounding.
So far this season, the London Lions have been playing incredible basketball - dominating both domestically and in Europe. Following their heartbreak defeat to DVTK in October’s EuroLeague qualifier, Stella Kaltsidou’s team have bounced back by winning all eight of their games in all competitions.
The outcome against Keltern was no different, as the Lions reeled off a 15-point victory in front of home support. In their previous meeting, London landed a statement victory by powering past the German club. The scoreline on the evening was 50-93 as Temi Fagbenle caught fire with 21 points.
On this occasion, the game was close for the opening 10 minutes with the two teams tied a 20-a-piece heading into the second quarter.
The hosts shot 46.4% on the evening, which began to kick into gear in the build-up to half-time as the Lions went on a 22-12 run in the second quarter. Keltern went into the break trailing by 10, with a tough task ahead of them in the second half.
Having won their previous five games in Europe, the pressure was off the Lions. However, they still had every intent to finish the group stage as top seed, so continued to pluck away at their opponents in the second half.
By the end of the evening, London had done enough to confirm their 100% record in this season’s EuroCup Women. Next up on the agenda is Sunday’s game against the Leicester Riders in the second part of a thrilling double-header at the Copper Box.
