The London Lions blazed past Rutronik Stars Keltern in recording breaking fashion to remain perfect in their EuroCup campaign.
After beating Essex by 28 less than a week before, Coach Kaltsidou’s team took it a step further by beating their German opponents by a staggering 43 points last Thursday night to mark their biggest ever European victory.
Holly Winterburn stole the headlines with a phenomenal performance that saw her just three assists off a triple-double.
Temi Fagbenle led the game in scoring as she impressively converted 10 of her 13 shots in the game. The first came in the first quarter, where the Lions built a solid seven-point lead.
In the second quarter, things took a turn for the worst for the hosts. London took control and were dominant on both ends of the court – limiting the German side to just 13 points whilst scoring 31 themselves. As a result, the Lions took a comfortable 25-point lead into the break.
With that being said, London didn’t take the opportunity to cool off as they continued their hot streak in the third quarter. The ball movement proved to be too much for the hosts, who just couldn’t stop an in-sync offense that was full of confidence.
By the end of the second half, the Lions had outscored Keltern by an additional 18 points. Combining this with the huge deficit that was established in the opening 20 minutes, it meant that the London Lions were able to leave Germany with a record-breaking victory that keeps them unbeaten in this season’s EuroCup campaign.
