Hometown heroes, the London Lions, ended 2022 off with a bang, overpowering the Plymouth City Patriots 87-63 in front of a raucous home crowd.
Player of the game, Kosta Koufos, recorded yet another regular season double-double with a 16-point and 10-rebound display, to go with 2 blocks and 1 steal. Kosta connected on 70% of his buckets in the paint in dominating fashion, using an assortment of post moves to back down and outsmart Plymouth’s defence.
Luke Nelson led from the front with a team-leading 19 points, complimented by 7 rebounds and 3 assists. During his twenty-six minutes on the court, the Worthing-born guard got busy from long distance, hitting three 3-pointers and was lights out from the charity stripe knocking down all 6 of his attempts.
Continuing to fit seamlessly into the Lions’ style of play is Jordan Taylor, who helped to orchestrate London’s offence dishing out a game leading 6 assists to go with 2 steals and 8 points.
In the pole position of being considered the best rebounding guard/wing in the league, Josh Ward-Hibbert yet again finished the game with 12 rebounds to go with 4 assists and 4 points.
London’s bench mob outscored Plymouth’s bench 32 to 10. Rookie Jonathan Komagum and sophomore guard Bradley Kaboza led this points production with career points totals.
Uganda national player Komagum had a perfect night of shooting from the field, connecting on all three of his 3-point attempts to the tune of 9 points. Kaboza, who signed a long-term deal with the Lions earlier in the summer, complemented his career-high 9 points with 3 rebounds and 2 assists.
Shrewd rim protector Josh Sharma disturbed Plymouth’s offence with 2 blocks to go with 9 rebounds and 6 points.
