As her London Lions team begin their defence of the WBBL play-off trophy, captain Shanice Beckford-Norton is looking for plenty of support.
The Lions continue their push for a perfect domestic season when they host Durham Palatinates at University of East London Sports Dock on Saturday, tip-off 3.30pm
Speaking on the atmosphere she wants to see from the crowd she said,
I hope we get a big crowd, my kids teams came to watch us at the Sevenoaks game and they made a lot of noise which gave us some energy. It would good to have that kind of atmosphere again.
After winning the WBBL title , along with the Cup and Trophy, the Lions head into the play-offs as the number one seed. On the other hand Durham finished eighth in the table and secured a place in the post-season on the final day of the regular season with a 110-58 road victory at Gloucester City Queens.
A victory on Saturday would see Mark Clark's host their semi-final at the Copper Box on Sunday May 8, with the final at the O2 Arena a week later.
Lions' leading scorer Cassie Breen has praised her side's attitude after a successful season
in the end it is a team game and it is always about the team’s success, or ‘we’ before ‘me’ as Mark (Clark) tells us all at practice.“You must bend for the team to be great, and I’ve been happy to do that as have all of my teammates. We have a team where our bench could pretty much start on big teams anywhere, but we’re so determined to be great that we can put ourselves to one side for the benefit of the team.
