Following a weekend that saw his side record two 50+ point wins, Lions women's coach Mark Clark was just happy to see his team back in action.

After almost a month without a game, Lions won 110-56 at Oaklands Wolves in the WBBL Championship on Saturday before defeating Manchester Mystics 101-46 in the WBBL Trophy the following afternoon.

"We hadn't played for ages and we were a bit all over the place in the first period at Oaklands" admitted Clark. "But after that we were much better. I don't know quite what happened to Mystics are Saturday's game in Cardiff, but back-to-backs are always tough."
"I think we played really well for most of the weekend and the important thing is that we got plenty of minutes into all of the players after a long break. It was good to get plenty of court time for [new signing] Shequilla Joseph and these games will help her."

Great Britain international Joseph joined Lions last week and the centre/forward recorded a ten point, ten rebound double-double on her debut at Oaklands.

Clark was clearly pleased with the performance of his players in the two victories:

"Jo [Leedham] played well both days, I think she's always the benchmark for us, and Holly [Winterburn] was perfect on both days and is really playing well at the moment. We got some quality time out of Steph (Umeh), she had another good weekend, and Cassie [Breen] shot really well both days."

The win against Mystics set up a WBBL Trophy semi-final against Nottingham Wildcats which will be played at University of East London on Saturday afternoon (2pm) while the following lunchtime the face Durham Palatinates at the Copper Box as part of a double header with the BBL game against Sheffield Sharks.
