London Lions have further strengthened their already impressive WBBL squad with the signing of GB international power forward Shaquilla Joseph.

The 26-year-old is expected to make her Lions debut in Saturday’s key home game against Sheffield Hatters which takes place at University of East London, and forms part of a double header with East London Phoenix’s wheelchair basketball game. Tickets on sale now

Ole Miss graduate Joseph joins from Hungarian side Ljibuda, and coach Mark Clark is delighted with his new signing:

“It’s another indication that we’re determined to bring in quality British players” he said. “She’s coming home to London, our rotation is getting deeper and the quality is going up. But above all it’s bringing a player who came through the Barking Abbey Academy back home. She’s had great success playing in Germany and Spain in the last few seasons. When the situation wasn’t going great for her, we knew it could work out really well for both of us.”

Having come through the junior GB programme while with Barking Abbey, Joseph is a regular in the senior national team where she has played alongside several of the Lions roster.
