London Lions captain Justin Robinson clearly had mixed emotions after a weekend that saw him return from injury as his team split their BBL Championship games.

Robinson and the Lions produced an excellent shooting performance to win 96-75 at Glasgow Rocks on Friday but were edged out 83-76 at home by Sheffield Sharks on Sunday.

“The game in Glasgow was a really good win and we shot the lights out, but Sunday was completely the opposite and we couldn’t buy a basket” he said.
“Sharks were very physical and we struggled with that. They scored a lot in the paint and pulled down a lot of rebounds. We missed Isaiah [Reese], he can score, create shots and break down defences. But for all of that, we still had chances to win the game and it’s a tough loss to take. Just a couple of loose balls or missed rebounds make a difference, it was a thin line between winning and losing that one.”

Robinson returned to the side after being out of action for three weeks, and the Lions’ captain admitted that it was a tough return:

“I played a lot more minutes that I expected” he said. “I was supposed to be on a minutes restriction, but with Isaiah missing I pushed it a bit with 15 minutes on Friday and 27 on Sunday. But I was out there playing and I’m thankful for that. I like to think that I can bring some experience, steadiness and leadership.”
