James Vear was delighted with his London Lions side’s shooting as they returned from Plymouth City Patriots with a 101-94 victory on Friday night.

The visitors drained 19 three pointers on their way to their fifth BBL Championship victory of the season, converting an impressive 45 percent of their shots outside the arc, to leave recently appointed coach Vear a happy man:

“It was a good group effort with six players in double figures” he said. “We shot the ball really well and I think 19 threes is a club record.”

While Lions had beaten Patriots comfortably in two BBL Cup games, Vear admitted that the West County side are a different proposition following some recent signings:

“It was a good victory because they’re a much improved side” he said. “It’s always difficult to win in Plymouth, they had lots of energy and caused us some problems at times. But we hit some big shots in the fourth period and got the defensive stops that saw us over the line.

The important games keep coming for Lions as they host Avtodor Saratov in the FIBA Europe Cup on Tuesday evening before Leicester Riders are the visitors on Friday. Both games tip-off at 7.30pm and tickets can be ordered here.
