Lions' coach James Vear was delighted with his depleted squad's performance as an 84-81 victory against Bristol Flyers at the Copper Box sealed a place in the BBL Trophy final, on Wednesday.

“It was a great team performance and everyone who play contributed with multiple players having good games” he said as Lions set up a final against Cheshire Phoenix at the Emirates Arena on Sunday March 20.
“It’s great to be in another final, it’s something we’re looking forward to and it’ll be great that the women are there as well.
“It was good to get some minutes back into Justin [Robinson], he’s beginning to look more comfortable and with Isaiah [Reese] injured, it’s great to have him back and good for him to get the playing time."

Vear was pleased with the contribution of his bench players:

“Chris Tawiah was a massive spark defensively off the bench for us and a big positive was Bradley [Kaboza] not just giving us some minutes but also being a spark for us. I think he’s shown he can play at this level, and we’re looking to get him more involved. Andre [Lockhart] gave us some good minutes, and it’s going to be a case of doing things by committee until we get fully healthy.”

Lions now face a trip to Cheshire on Sunday for a dress rehearsal of the Trophy final and Vear’s team stay on the road next week when they travel to Manchester as they continue their BBL Championship campaign.
