The WBBL Trophy is one of four competitions run by the UK's premier women's competition.
It's played on a knockout basis, with all 13 teams competing. Unlike it's male counterpart it doesn't invite any lower division teams to round the number of entrants up to 16, so both of Sunday's finalists - London Lions and Sevenoaks Suns - received a bye in the first round.
Lions started their defence of Trophy with a home game against Manchester Mystics and a dominant first period performance paved the way for a 101-46 victory against Manchester Mystics at Crystal Palace. Kennedy Leonard led the way for London, adding six rebounds to her 20 point, 12 assist double while captain Shanice Beckford-Norton came off the bench to finish with 19 points and four rebounds. Cassie Breen's 15 points all came from three-point land off just seven attempts while Holly Winterburn had 13 points on a perfect shooting game and Azania Stewart added ten points in a balance scoring efforts. The hosts shot an incredible 60 percent from outside the three point arc, converting 14 of their 23 shots from downtown.
Suns found the going tougher as they travelled to Essex Rebels in their last eight game but a strong second half blew open a two-point game as the Kent side won 86-71. Jamilla Monakana led Len Busch's side with 24 points and seven rebounds Franki Wurtz added 17 points, eight boards and six assists while Cat Carr had a massive game with 15 rebounds to go with her ten points in a 40-minute performance

Mark Clark’s side did most of the damage in the second half as the visitors were limited to just ten points while Lions poured in 43 of their own.
Suns' Trophy campaign continued on the road in the semi-final as travelled to Leicester Riders where a dominant first three period paved the way for a 74-57 victory, Monakana was again on form with a 24-point, 11-rebound double-double while Carr finished with an 11 point, ten rebound, ten assist triple-double to lead Suns to their first final of the campaign.
